Why we are different
Reflecting the trend in healthcare generally, most practitioners and consultancies working in the business health & performance space offer organisations either physical health programmes emphasising health status monitoring, symptom management and disease prevention, or psychological support for mental performance and resilience/burnout prevention and clinical treatment of mental illness.
Traditional models of healthcare
The truly effective approach, one that recognises the strong and pivotal relationship between the physical health of people and their mental performance and resilience often falls between these two poles. All too often organisations assume not only that their people generally look after themselves, but that they can rely on healthcare/medical support if or when this fails.
But traditional healthcare support is not what it was. The private medical insurance model often relied upon by businesses in the United Kingdom and beyond is struggling. It is founded on a reactive model of disease treatment and pays no effective attention to prevention. Attempts at screening for disease are usually excluded from policies and at best seek out existing, early disease, rather than attempting to avoid it.
Fundamentally in an era of medical hyperinflation, an ageing population and spiralling mental health challenges, this dated approach is doomed to under-preform and become unaffordable, as many of our clients have found, or are finding.
Inverting the model
CorPerformance inverts this approach. The principal aim is to adopt a methodology designed to maximise the personal resources that evolutionary biology requires for optimising physical and mental performance. In so doing the lifestyle imbedded maximises mental health and resilience while minimising the disease risks which dominate our ageing First World population.
We adopt a rigorously science-led but nonetheless holistic perspective. Reflecting the latest research in medical science, psychology, and neuroscience, we recognise that when a person is for example unable to reach their full mental potential, the barrier might be located in their physical health, while physical health problems can often have their origins in mental processes.
People Performance
We do not work with illnesses, symptoms or systems, but with the people – your people. We do not use algorithms to understand people, we do not make generalisations based on large datasets, and we don’t make assumptions. We treat each participant in our programmes as an individual. Our outcome data across a range of business sectors and demographics provides strong evidence for our approach.
What organisations now know
And a common theme over 20-years has been that many of our clients didn’t realise how much they needed our services until the effects of our programmes on their people and their performance became evident. Why? Because it’s all too easy for leaders to believe that their people have infinite psychological resources, stress resilience, and performance capacity. And we understand this, because high performing people are often also extremely good at masking or camouflaging the negative symptoms of fatigue, stress, burnout, and even illness, until it’s too late.
But our clients have found that actively supporting and thereby enhancing the biological resources and psychological status of their people through a CorPerformance programme is not simply good business ethics, it’s very good business sense. Please feel free to get in touch and discuss what we can do for your organisation.
Our programmes, events and services offer people, at all levels of your organisation, the opportunity to develop greater awareness and understanding of factors that can inhibit their performance, their professional and personal relationships, and their quality of life, and to develop the agency and skills necessary to regulate these in line with their career and life goals.
